Focus Group | Lawyer-Linguists (AD7) – Court of Justice of the EU | Spanish

Prepare with Yepso! for the Lawyer-Linguists (AD7) competition at the Court of Justice of the European Union, EPSO/AD/431/26.

We have designed an intensive Focus Group preparation programme to help you tackle the tests in this competition through specialised training, exam simulations and individual feedback on your written exercises.

WHICH LANGUAGE COMBINATIONS DOES THIS PROGRAMME COVER?

The programme is initially designed for candidates applying for the Spanish-language Lawyer-Linguists competition (EPSO/AD/431/26 – ES), with the following language combination:

• Language 1: Spanish. Reasoning tests, EU Law test, legal translation and machine translation revision.
• Language 2: French. Source language for the legal translation test (FR → ES).
• Language 3: English, German, Italian or Portuguese. Source language of the machine-translated legal text to be revised in Spanish.

Initially, we plan to offer the FR → ES legal translation and EN → ES machine translation revision training sessions. Sessions and materials for other Language 3 combinations will be organised depending on demand and the availability of our specialists.

WHAT DOES THE FOCUS GROUP INCLUDE AND HOW WILL IT HELP YOU?

The Lawyer-Linguists (AD7) Focus Group aims to bring together a dedicated group of candidates preparing specifically for the tests in this competition.

We offer three preparation options: Essential, Plus and Advanced, allowing you to choose the volume of materials, practice exercises and academic support that best suits your needs.

The programme is structured around four main areas:

• 1. Verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning tests.
  • Full practice tests containing 30 questions, following the actual EPSO distribution: 10 verbal, 10 numerical and 10 abstract reasoning questions.
  • Between 300 and 900 practice questions, depending on the package selected.
  • Access to three Express Courses, each lasting more than two hours, covering verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning in the Plus and Advanced packages.
  • One live group Q&A session in the Advanced package.
  • Language 1: Spanish.
• 2. European Union Law Test (EU Law Test).
  • Between 300 and 900 EU Law questions, depending on the package selected.
  • Practice tests containing 30 questions, adapted to the format of the competition.
  • One specialised theory session in the Plus and Advanced packages.
  • One additional live group Q&A session in the Advanced package.
  • Access to a comprehensive EU Law study syllabus in the Advanced package.
  • Language 1: Spanish.
• 3. Legal translation test (FR → ES).
  • Practice exercises designed to reflect the characteristics and requirements of EPSO's legal translation test.
  • Between 2 and 6 exercises, depending on the package selected, with individual corrections and feedback.
  • One specialised group session covering methodology, common difficulties and legal translation techniques in the Plus and Advanced packages.
  • Preparation for completing the test without dictionaries or other reference materials.
• 4. Machine translation revision test (L3 → ES).
  • Exercises involving the revision of machine-translated legal texts, adapted to each candidate's language combination.
  • Between 2 and 6 exercises, depending on the package selected, with individual corrections and feedback.
  • One specialised revision session in the Plus and Advanced packages, depending on the selected Language 3 and group availability.
  • Practice identifying errors of meaning, terminology, legal accuracy, omissions and unnecessary changes.

WHICH PREPARATION PACKAGE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

1. ESSENTIAL FOCUS GROUP

Designed for candidates who wish to prepare through extensive practice, introductory live training and an initial individual assessment of their language skills.

• 300 reasoning questions: 10 full practice tests.
• 300 EU Law questions: 10 full practice tests.
• 2 live group training sessions covering the main aspects of the competition:
  • Session 1. Reasoning and EU Law: test structure, methodology and guided practice.
  • Session 2. Introduction to legal translation and machine translation revision.
• 2 FR → ES legal translation exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• 2 L3 → ES machine translation revision exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• Access to the E-Yepso! platform and updates on developments relating to the competition.

In total: 600 questions, 20 multiple-choice practice tests, 2 live training sessions and 4 written language exercises with individual corrections and feedback.

2. PLUS FOCUS GROUP

An extended preparation programme for candidates who want to combine a greater volume of practice tests with specialised training and academic support in both EU Law and the language tests.

• 600 reasoning questions: 20 full practice tests.
• 600 EU Law questions: 20 full practice tests.
• Access to three Express Courses:
  • Verbal reasoning.
  • Numerical reasoning.
  • Abstract reasoning.
  Each course lasts more than two hours.
• The 2 general live training sessions included in the Essential package.
• 1 specialised EU Law theory session.
• 1 specialised FR → ES legal translation session.
• 1 specialised L3 → ES machine translation revision session, depending on the available language combination.
• 4 FR → ES legal translation exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• 4 L3 → ES machine translation revision exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• Access to the E-Yepso! platform and updates on developments relating to the competition.

In total: 1,200 questions, 40 multiple-choice practice tests, 5 live training sessions, 3 Express Courses and 8 written language exercises with individual corrections and feedback.

3. ADVANCED FOCUS GROUP

Our most comprehensive and intensive preparation option, designed for candidates who want to maximise their practice through an extensive question bank, a complete EU Law study syllabus, specialised training and additional Q&A sessions.

• 900 reasoning questions: 30 full practice tests.
• 900 EU Law questions: 30 full practice tests.
• Access to the three Express Courses on verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning, each lasting more than two hours.
• Comprehensive EU Law study syllabus covering the knowledge required for the EU Law Test.
• The 2 general live training sessions.
• 1 specialised EU Law theory session.
• 1 specialised FR → ES legal translation session.
• 1 specialised L3 → ES machine translation revision session, depending on the available language combination.
• 1 additional live group Q&A session on reasoning tests.
• 1 additional live group Q&A session on EU Law.
• 6 FR → ES legal translation exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• 6 L3 → ES machine translation revision exercises with individual corrections and feedback.
• Access to the E-Yepso! platform and updates on developments relating to the competition.

In total: 1,800 questions, 60 multiple-choice practice tests, 7 live training sessions, 3 Express Courses, a comprehensive EU Law study syllabus and 12 written language exercises with individual corrections and feedback.

TRAINING SCHEDULE AND ORGANISATION

The programme has been designed to offer progressive and flexible preparation, taking into account that EPSO has not yet confirmed the exact dates of the tests.

• Reasoning tests: materials will be available from the beginning of the relevant training module, according to the package selected.
• Early December 2026: the initial EU Law, legal translation and machine translation revision sessions will begin, together with access to the corresponding practice exercises.
• Written language exercises: once the relevant training module has started, all exercises included in the selected package will be made available, without monthly unlocking restrictions.
• Flexible planning: candidates may complete the exercises at their own pace. Yepso! will provide a recommended study schedule, suggesting approximately two legal translation and two machine translation revision exercises per month, depending on the number of exercises included in the package.
• Adaptation to EPSO: the training schedule may be adjusted once EPSO confirms the dates of the selection tests.

The legal translation and machine translation revision exercises include individual feedback to help you identify mistakes, understand the specific challenges of each test and progressively improve your performance.
